Maximizing Comfort in a Premium SUV

Since its launch in 2020, the Genesis GV80, a premium SUV, has received an enthusiastic response from consumers both domestically and internationally. One of the key factors in its success is the excellent seat design that maximizes comfort for the driver and passengers. The seat design for the GV80 was carried out with the utmost consideration for the comfort and satisfaction of the driver and passengers. Hyundai Transys' experienced design engineers worked meticulously with the goal of creating an emotionally appealing seat design, and successfully overcame various challenges through close collaboration with Muyamigo.

Meticulous Surface Modeling and Professional Specification Application

For the first-row seats, modifications and improvements were made based on the design of the existing G80 model to fit the GV80's position. Although there were difficulties in modeling due to the many curved surfaces of the seats, the driver's comfort was maximized through modifications to the comfort-related pads. Efforts were also made to work on the B-surface of the pads and configure the TREE to match various seat specifications. Through reverse engineering, files without a TREE for injection-molded parts were also processed without any issues.

Innovative Power Seat Design Overcoming Space Constraints

The second-row seats were the first instance of Hyundai Transys applying power seats, and the focus was on implementing a comfortable and emotionally appealing design. Although the spatial limitations of the lower B-surface of the back pad posed challenges to the design, the engineers were able to overcome this with creative ideas. For the third-row seats, great efforts were also made to modify the comfort-related pads, with passenger convenience as the top priority.

Combination of Thorough Process Management and Expertise

For the seats in all rows, the body package for each specification was thoroughly reviewed, and the overall design process was carried out without any setbacks, including seat layout design, preparation of approval and part drawings, preparation of certification documents for each region, and verification of kinematic motion. Through this project, Hyundai Transys fully demonstrated its expertise and know-how in the field of premium SUV seat design. The GV80 has received positive reviews from consumers both domestically and internationally since its launch, and at the center of this success lies the excellent seat design capabilities of Hyundai Transys, the client, and Muyamigo engineers.
